And we’re off at the crack of late morning. But hey we had some last-minute cleaning up/packing out/throwing away to
do. And no one ever accused the Joad
family of hitting the road too late.
Within the first 20 minutes, as “Born To Be Wild” was blaring on Tonto’s
stereo (somehow my new shiny black Jeep Grand Cherokee was christened Tonto),
we had pulled in to our second stop. At
this rate we will make it to California by 2017.
Most Peculiar, Odd, or Culturally Significant Sight of the
Day: The nun in full habit riding a
vertically extended red bicycle down the street in Asheville, NC.
Completely Random Road Signs:
- Factory Sock Outlet (Who needs this?)
- Hunting and Fishing Live Bait (Fishing okay, but
hunting? Are you after the
Velociraptor?)
|
Loading out: What started as a couple bags and a few boxes turned in to a packed Jeep. I think someone fed them after midnight. |
