(Poor boys and pilgrims with families and we’re all going to
Graceland...)
Starbucks has yet to open a location outside the gates of
Graceland so we took a quick detour in to Mississippi for coffee. Apparently the “We Fix Bent and Damaged Rims”
shop next to “The King’s Best Discount Pawn Shop” does not scream to executives
in Seattle “OPEN A STARBUCKS HERE!”
Anyway…Graceland. The
King. TCB. Every self-respecting music lover needs to go
if you’re within a 100 mile radius because, as John Lennon said, “before Elvis,
there was nothing”.
Sure, there’s some horrendous decorating and questionable
taste and its easy to make fun of the TV Room and the Jungle Room and just
about every other room in the place but you got to respect a guy who buys a
mansion complex at 22 years old in order to give his family an upgrade from the two room
house in Tupelo, Mississippi. And then
completely remodels the kitchen to handle the hordes of family and friends he
always had over. Ya, you've got to respect that...
However, we did reach the conclusion that Young Elvis is
much better than Old Elvis.
"The Mississippi Delta was shining like a national guitar. I am following the river, down the highway to the cradle of the civil war. I'm going to Graceland..." |
I am preparing to be amazed... |
And OK, I'll admit, it was kinda cool |
Wow... |
Umm... |
